Here are a few projects that we’ve been working on over the last few months!
When: May 2013
What: We replaced a roof and repaired the skirting in North Golden.
Who: There were 8 volunteers who worked on this project with a permit from the city and it went great!
Celebrate: These volunteers took the roof from spongy, leaky, and unsafe to solid, dry, and walkable.

When: June 2013.
What: This project, which was also in North Golden for a senior adult included remodeling a kitchen, replacing bathroom safety bars and faucet, and patching drywall.
Who: Project was completed successfully by 6 volunteers (no permit required).
Celebrate: Some of the remodeling included replacing a kitchen sink, faucet, and countertops, installing new stove and oven hood. The volunteers repaired old leak damage, helped create a safe shower experience, and installing new kitchenware for the homeowner.

When: June 2013
What: Added 2 cement walkways for senior adult and low income individuals in North Golden.
Who: 6 volunteers worked on site and a family delivered lunches to everyone while they worked.
Celebrate: The projects were a success! An elderly woman, 80% blind, now feels much safer coming in and out of her house due to the predictable surface. A cement pad was poured for another individual for a safe work space.

Coming up on September 7th is the 3rd annual Neighborhood Rehab Project and this year we are partnering with the City of Golden and Rotary Club. The general schedule for the day will be to meet at Hillside at 8:30am for late registration, breakfast and coffee. We will have a brief safety talk then head out to the worksites with the Project Managers. Sack lunches will be delivered around noon and we will finish up the workday around 4pm. Immediately after the City of Golden is sponsoring a Neighborhood and Volunteerism Celebration. There will be a catered meal for all volunteers as well as entertainment, beer tent, and door prizes! This is also an opportunity to bring YOUR ideas for future volunteer based projects. We are super thankful for the city and to the Rotary Club for their support in making Golden neighborhoods safe, dry, and warm through the collaboration and partnerships of residents.
