The first time we did rehab in 2011, we gathered the volunteers and homeowners on site at 215 Cheyenne street to check in, have a safety talk, and begin assigning projects. After that was completed we all joined together to pray for the day and our safety. When we said “amen”, a 7 year old boy who lived in the neighborhood stepped forward and raised his hand and asked these questions, “How much did each of you have to pay to get to do this, and can I help you today?”. This young man exemplified for us the true heart behind service and proceeded to be the hardest worker for the day. He pulled a wagon throughout the site passing out bottles of water for hours and wanted to learn how to run every power tool on site. He was truly a tool.
